Baptism Celebration The Sacrament of Baptism celebrates a new person being welcomed into God's Family. The Symbols of Baptism Water - The priest pours holy water over the baby's forehead whilst saying "I baptise you in the name of the Father and the Son and of the Holy Spirit." White Clothing - The child that gets baptised wears white clothing, the white symbolises a new creation. Light - Lighted candles are passed around to people in the church. The light from the candle symbolises life of Jesus. Oil - The oil is a symbol of the Holy Spirit. In a baptism the baby is anointed with the oil on their breasts. The Sign of the Cross - The priest will trace the sign of the cross on the baby's forehead.

Confirmation Celebration Confirmation is celebrated because when someone is confirmed, they are continuing their Catholic life with God. The Symbols of Confirmation Laying on of Hands - The priest lays his hand over the children and calls the Holy Spirit. Dove - The Dove is the main symbol in Confirmation, the dove represents the Holy Spirit. White Clothing - The person that is being confirmed wears white to symbolise their cleanness. The Sign of Peace - During the Confirmation the priest says "Peace be with you." which means that we're all part of God's church. Oil - Being anointed with the oil means that you are strengthened, the person is anointed with oil by the priest.

Eucharist Celebration The Eucharist is also called Holy Communion. The Eucharist recreates Jesus and his disciples at The Last Supper. When we eat and drink the wine and bread, Jesus becomes present in us.
The Symbols of Eucharist Host - The host is a Communion wafer which is Jesus' body. This is handed out to us when we go to Church. Wine - The wine represents the blood of Jesus that he handed to his disciples to drink at the Last Supper. Chalice - The wine, blood of Jesus is in a chalice. Grapes - The Grapes are crushed and used in wine, the wine is Jesus's blood. Wheat - Wheat is used to bake bread, while the bread is the body of Jesus.
